Journeys and destinations
Do you know where you are headed?
Are you on a journey to a known destination or on a journey to an unknown one?
Hello my lovely subscribers! It has been a while since I have written on here. It’s been hectic on this side. I hope you’ve all been well and a big shout out to the new subscribers! Thank you for doing this thing called life with me, welcome aboard! I am now at 69 subscribers! (need one more to round off this number lol) I never thought I would have some amazing and the wisest of people reading my essays, thank you for accommodating my thoughts and soul into your inbox. Also a big shout out to Patrick Muindi and Tinashe D. Ndhlovu for checking in and their kind words.
I am at a stage in my life where I am wondering whether there are any destinations. When we are young we encouraged to become someone and make something out of our lives, we start setting goals to enable us to get to our “destination” for example an actor getting her big break and starring in a movie after multiple rejections. A doctor finally completing his medical training, a lawyer finally qualifying to be able to practice. In theory these people have reached their “destinations” they knew where they were going. Once they are in the game what’s next? I suppose it is now about refining one’s skill set with the experience they gain along the way. But that in itself is a journey. Sometimes not knowing where it will lead but perhaps to something bigger and better within their field of work and their journey continues.
A couple deeply in love will choose to spend the rest of their lives together and decide to exchange vows in the hope that their love has reached its destination but it really is the beginning of a journey to strengthen their bond and keep their love alive. If one of them stops, then more often than not a journey to go their separate ways begins.
However, there are some journeys where the destination is unknown maybe even elusive. You are travelling on a path not knowing where it will lead. It is these journeys that intrigue me the most. I decided to take a journey like that when I started writing, I did not know and still don’t know where it is going to lead. All I know is that I love it! It has exposed me to different perspectives especially here on substack and of course some lovely people who I would have not had the pleasure of connecting and reading their work, had I not embarked on this journey. I don’t know if I have mastered this skill but I am having fun pouring words on paper. I feel like my soul is being expanded in a way it never would have been. I intend to continue writing as I want to tell stories, bring hope, offer a positive outlook and provoke thoughts.
Another journey I have begun is starting my own gifting business which I am so proud of. It is not perfect and it needs a lot of work but the aim of this is to spread smiles. Again i don’t know where this will be leading but I have learnt alot and have met some knowledgeable people who I would have otherwise not met.
And then there are journeys you take because you feel lost in life, you try different things in the hope that it will lead somewhere. Hopefully somewhere good. Sometimes these journeys are necessary because you learn about yourself and they end up shaping you.
They say life is a journey, I could not agree more with that statement. Sometimes you take journeys to a known destination sometimes your destination is elusive. Either way these journeys shape you. So whatever journey you are on keep travelling, no doubt there will be traffic, detours and speed bumps. Wherever you are headed enjoy the journey and more importantly surrender to it.
I have learnt that life is really not about choosing a destination it is about choosing the journey.

Just because you don’t know where you’re going doesn’t mean you’re lost.
It might just mean you are growing. These kinds of journeys help us stay open, flexible, and brave. The best part is, they often lead us to people, places, and experiences we never expected, sometimes even better than what we had planned. Welcome back, Bansi.
You're very welcome, Bansi.
Worthy journeys don't have known destinations, because, by their nature, they are processes of revelation. Even if the destination is known, it ceases to be the aspiration the moment it's reached.
Thus, whoever is sure of where and when to arrive isn't a good traveler. Traveling, in it's truest form, is a sense of wonder.
So, let's keep journeying. We'll know what the journeys have been by looking backwards. So far, so good. I'm sure it's the same for you, my friend.
